Graduation Service 2014
Graduation Day: It’s a sense of accomplishment paired with a sense of ambition about the future. It is a day when the struggles of study suddenly seem worth it all.
The immense pride of the graduates is matched only by their consuming curiosity of the new world into which they are preparing to enter. Each person has a unique path to follow in life. Only prayer, counsel, and time will reveal the mysteries of God’s design for the lives of each graduate. In celebration of such a commencement into life and liberty, Southside Baptist Church honored the graduates of kindergarten, High School, and College. The parade of graduates began as they processed to their reserved seats as “Pomp and Circumstance” signaled the formal announcement that this special time had truly arrived. Donned in cap and gown, the graduates took their place in the front of the sanctuary. With beaming smiles, the students prepared to be recognized for their respective accomplishments in their studies. Each graduate was summoned to the pulpit to receive a commemorative Bible and to share their future plans. As these graduates launch out into the new challenges before them, the greatest resource they could possess is a Bible.
The great evangelist D.L. Moody once summarized the Bible as he said, “Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practice it to be Holy. It contains light to direct you, and comfort to cheer you; it is the traveler’s map, the pilgrim’s staff, the pilot’s compass, the soldier’s sword, and the Christian’s character.” No matter what the future path of these graduates may hold, the Word of God will fully equip them for maturity in any endeavor. After the recognition of the graduates, the Pastor charged the students to launch out into life by faith and to remain faithful to God. After the conclusion of the service, a reception in the beautifully decorated fellowship hall was held in honor of the graduates.
